Cybersecurity Analysis Built by a Practitioner — For the People Who Have to Make Decisions

Most cybersecurity intelligence is written for security teams. But the people who actually have to act on it — managing partners, compliance officers, executives — get buried in jargon, or worse, get nothing at all until something goes wrong.

Cybersecurity Analysis & Insight exists to close that gap.

This subscription service delivers clear, decision-ready analysis tailored to executives and compliance leadership in highly regulated industries. No vendor pitches. No fear-mongering. Just practitioner-level insight translated for the people in the room when the hard calls get made.

About Scott Ashton

Scott Ashton has spent more than two decades building and leading cybersecurity programs — and his path to the field wasn't typical.

He started his career as a mobile intensive care paramedic, responding to 911 calls in central New Jersey. That background — making fast decisions under pressure, communicating clearly with people in crisis, understanding that the work has real consequences — shaped everything that followed.

After transitioning into IT and then security, Scott rose through progressively senior roles: Network Security Administrator at a regional health system. VP of Information Security at a $9 billion financial institution. Information Security Manager, then Global Director, at AmLaw 50 and AmLaw 10 law firms. Most recently, he served as Chief Information Security Officer at Gibson Dunn, a global law firm with $4 billion in revenue and 3,500 professionals worldwide.

Along the way, he implemented ISO 27001 certifications across multiple organizations, built third-party risk management programs from the ground up, and designed email security strategies that prevented more than $20 million in losses from phishing and business email compromise attacks.

Scott holds the CISSP and CISM certifications, along with a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Information Assurance from Regis University. He currently serves as Director of Cybersecurity at GraniteGRC Consulting, advising clients on governance, risk, and compliance in highly regulated industries.

He founded Cybersecurity Analysis & Insight because he saw the same pattern everywhere: executives and compliance officers responsible for security outcomes, but underserved by the intelligence products available to them. This service is his answer — practitioner-grade analysis, delivered in a format that respects your time and supports your decisions.
